So you want to make money from AdSense or a similar program. How can you do that?
Free traffic from the search engines is the obvious answer, but that takes time, and we’d all like to start earning yesterday.
Some website owners use a tactic that more or less amounts to buying cheap traffic that is likely to click on the ads on their pages, which hopefully pay enough more to make up for the fact that not every visitor will do so.
This is somewhat of a chancy proposition. You have no control over what the pay-per-click ads on your website are worth, aside from the general worth of the topic, and you need to have some content to generate the appropriate ads.
The most affordable way to do this is to use one of the cheaper pay-per-click engines, one that allows you to pay a penny or so per visitor, rather than the major engines. Of course, you need to be certain that you are getting your visitors, so you have to watch your statistics as you would with any other program, but this is a cheap way to go.
Perhaps the hardest part is writing decent content and giving the page enough purpose beyond generating those clicks to keep your website active. It is against Google’s terms of service to create pages strictly for the purpose of running AdSense, so you are best off having other offers on that page. Besides, they might even generate sales on their own.
One thing I will always stress is that keeping it honest is the best long term policy. Cheaters get caught, lose what they’ve earned and may even be prosecuted, so do not ever join any group where you click on each other’s links. It simply is not worth the trouble.
Now, you may not think it is easy to find something to sell for every topic. Try places such as Clickbank, which has thousands of ebooks on a very wide range of topics for inspiration and links.
One temptation many webmasters fall for is to use a page generator to create pages just for AdSense. These can work for a time, certainly, but are rapidly banned or simply dropped by the search engines as duplicate content. You need to at least change them enough so that your site does not look like every other automatically generated website out there. Yes, many do consider this a questionable tactic, so decide for yourself if it is one you want to use.
Some do question whether you should build a website to target high paying keywords. My personal feeling is that if the topic works naturally for you, both you and the advertiser may well benefit. However, if you are just going for the money, you may be blocked over time by the best advertisers and steadily earn less. Providing value to both sides is of the greatest benefit to all concerned. Dishonest methods may lead to loss of income or even prosecution.
