Pay-Per-Click Search Engines

These are some of the more popular pay-per-click search engines. Google lists more than 6.7 million results for "pay per click search engine," most of which will of course not be search engines but rather reviews of the various ones out there. The smaller pay per click search engines may come and go, so I recommend checking out your favorite search engine or the link above to find current results for the smaller engines.

Major pay-per-click search engines

Google AdWords - The big name in the business. Lots of competition for many phrases, but plenty of gems still to be found. Minimum $0.05 per click bids, no monthly minimums and you can easily set a daily budget to keep things under control. Only one ad allowed per unique URL per search phrase, so this can get a little competitive for affiliates. Your ads can run just on Google, or you can allow them to be seen on their search and/or content networks for maximum exposure. You must maintain a 0.5% clickthrough rate for your ads to remain active in most categories. $5 to start, no minimum initial deposit.

Yahoo Search - The other big name. Very popular, the major search engine these ads appear on is Yahoo. Ads also appear across a large network of sites. Minimum bid $0.10 per click, $20 minimum monthly spend, $30 deposit required to start. Listings are subject to editorial review. Keywords must correspond to exact landing page. Also offers Local Match options.

Search123 - Smaller and cheaper than AdWords or Overture by about 50% on average, according to their website. Also offers Spanish language network. Listings are reviewed and they reserve the right to make changes to listings as appropriate. Minimum $0.05 per click, budget controls, no monthly minimums, no charge for account management or optimization assistance. Promotion: Deposit $50, get $20 free.

Enhance - Initial $50 deposit required, which is applied to your bids. Ads subject to editorial review. Minimum $0.03 per click bid, easy to set daily budget. Promotion: With Enhance Interactive advertising opportunities are endless. Signup today and receive $25 FREE PPC credit.

Please note that some of these search engines may only allow you to advertise your own domain, not an affiliate link. Given the changes in Google, creating your own website is probably the best way to go anyhow. It ensures that you can always promote your programs.
