One of the toughest things about blogging can be getting inspired. Some days the ideas just don’t flow that easily. However, if you look around, there’s almost always inspiration available.
One of the common ways to find inspiration is to check out your stats. See how people are finding your blog. If there’s a query you’re being found on already, maybe there’s a way for you to expand on the idea. Take a look at the page that is already getting the attention and think about how to offer more information on that topic.
Link the two topics together so that visitors to each will notice both posts, and to encourage the search engines. This can help you look like you know more about the topic.
Also look at your blog comments. People often add their own thoughts in their comments, but they can ask questions too. Some may only need a quick answer in the comments, but other times it makes more sense to do a complete post on the matter, or perhaps a quick answer in a comment, then a more detailed post.
This can be particularly good if someone is disagreeing with you. Invite them to share more information. An interview is a great way to get more information on a topic that will interest your readers, and a little controversy or disagreement can be a good thing when handled well.
Invite your readers to ask you questions. This could be a prominent feature in your sidebar or a post you throw out there whenever you’re short on ideas. It’s always good to get into the minds of your readers.
Your readership should be more than just the people who read and comment on your blog. It should be a source of inspiration for you.
