I just read over at ProBlogger that Technorati has relaunched their site. The changes are pretty interesting, if not quite what I would consider to be ideal.

The front page is dedicated to what they call their percolator. It’s pretty much a way to show what some of the big stories are. There are similar pages for business, entertainment, lifestyle, politics, sports and technology.

While I understand pretty well what they’re doing, I think it is more annoying than useful that clicking on the titles of the articles in the percolator goes to a Technorati page rather than to the story page. They do this so that you can see reactions to the story. I get it but… it’s annoying. If I click on a story title, I want to read the story. I think it would be better to include a link to Technorati’s list of reactions instead.

They are apparently trying to focus more on the needs of bloggers, which makes sense, as that’s the main group that uses them.

One big sign of their focus on bloggers is Blogger Central. You can see what’s getting a lot of links, top blogs and top tags. This can be very usable information, especially if you spot a hot topic that relates in some way to a blog you own.

I may give Technorati another chance. Haven’t looked at them in months, but curiosity may get the best of me,

Antone else?
