I learned about this over at ProBlogger. Technorati has changed the terminology they use for incoming links, calling it Authority instead. I don’t know what the difference is, since the numbers look the same to me, but maybe it signals an upcoming change.
They’ve also changed the display of how many people have favorited a blog, calling it Fans instead.
You can still see what your ranking is overall. It’s not on your main page when you click on the blog’s name, but if you click on your Authority number, it will still show your rank.
A lot of people are wondering if this relates to how people have been learning to game Technorati. You may well have seen the various Favoriting trains going about. I’ll admit to doing a bit of favorite trading, but I quickly got bored with it, especially once I saw how many people were playing games, making it not worth the time. I’ll wait for real popularity. But it was an interesting, short term experiment.
Overall, it looks like a nice enough change, and it they’re coping with all the people gaming them, so much the better. The lists for Top Favorited and Top Blogs are still available, so some things really haven’t changed all that much.

Just noticed this yesterday, but didn’t look much into it. They took away the quick view of how many blogs and links there are to you I noticed. Then I couldn’t find how many people had faved my site either anymore. Oh well. Not that important I guess. Not like they have much of a reliable ranking system anyways.
