One of the things that can really be a pain at times is getting your websites reorganized. But there often comes a time when it really is necessary. Otherwise your websites can become cluttered with old information and hard to use.

It really can be a help to take a good look at how things are going on all your site regularly. What’s painful is taking the time to do so.

Start out by seeing if all your sites are doing what you want them to do. Are they worth keeping? Sometimes it’s just time to sell a site rather than keep trying. If it’s not inspiring you to keep it up and it isn’t earning what you want it to earn for you, maybe it’s time to let someone else have a go at it. Sell that site.

Even the sites that are doing well you should go through and make sure they are current. Some topics hardly change at all from year to year. Others change significantly.

But what can really change are your affiliate links, especially links to individual products. Make sure all your links are working and go to products that are still available.

What about conversions? If something isn’t converting, decide what to do about it. If you think a rewrite will help, go for it. If you just don’t want to work with that product anymore, that can be the right choice too. Maybe a different merchant would convert better. You have plenty of options.

Do you have products of your own that you sell? How are those doing? Everything current for them? When was the last time you tested your marketing copy to see if you could improve conversions? What worked last year may not work best this year, and even small changes can have a major impact.

Don’t forget the navigation of your website. As a site grows the navigation can become unwieldy and individual pages can be all but orphaned. Review how various pages are reached and try to make every page easily accessed. Logical navigation helps tremendously and allows people to follow a path to that which they are interested in.

Do the same for every aspect of your marketing. If you haven’t looked at your pay per click stats in a while, go over them in detail. Same for your autoresponders. Look at the keywords you’re doing well with in the search engines and decide where you need to be.

It take a lot of time to review a website and make sure that it is up to date and well organized. But it is also necessary so that your sites can do as well as possible both in the search engines and for your business.
