There are all kinds of quick content solutions out there. Private label articles. Free to use articles. Article remixing. But what good is it all?

Certainly this is a fast way to build a website. You can get a lot out of these, and some people see some pretty good benefit. But it has some negatives too.

Easy content can make it quite easy to target a lot of keywords, getting into the long tail and so forth. But what it lacks in most cases is the ability to offer something unique. Something that makes your site worth visiting over and over. Something that builds a great deal of trust.

You build trust by offering something of value. Remixing content just offers the same tidbit of value over and over again. Worse, it often stems from something that has been rehashed at site after site. You may get some benefit, but it’s not a way to build a solid reputation.

Of course, how you do the remixing can matter. If you’re using a software solution to remix your articles, you probably aren’t adding value. But if you’re updating, adding new information, targeting your thoughts to a whole new idea surrounding the old information, it can be valuable.

Another trouble with quickie content is that as search engines figure it out, your efforts in that area can be completely wasted, and you have to start over. Even worse is when they get so good at spotting a given tactic that you never get any benefit from it at all.

On the other hand, if you produce good quality content, you can build a good reputation and not have to rely solely on search engines. You can get people who regularly visit your site and recommend it to others. You can become an authority in your niche.

Of course, becoming an authority is not easy, but it’s a goal worth aiming for. It’s something a target I quite enjoy aiming at, however. The time spent is worth it. It might even be easier than you think, since you don’t need to create so many pages and websites.
