Is the Affiliate Life for You?

It sounds easy. It sounds pleasant. Work one hour a day, pull in thousands.

Ah, if only it were that easy.

The established affiliates MAY have such a lifestyle, but most have to work hard at their affiliate business. An often-quoted statistic is that 90% of affiliates will never make ANY sales.

So much for the easy lifestyle.

Perhaps the biggest mistake people make when they decide to become affiliates is to enter the field and try to sell Internet Marketing products. After all, these products work for people claiming to earn hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars every year, right?

That market is heavily saturated. Forget it for now.

You'll enjoy life as an affiliate more if you choose a more appropriate product. Think about what you know, what you could enjoy selling online. Most affiliate products (SiteSell is one of the few exceptions) cannot be sold offline.

Build an email list (no spamming!) of people who want to get information from you. This will be your most powerful tool.

Read the best ebooks on the topic you can afford, join appropriate discussion boards, both in Internet Marketing and in your topic of interest. Put your affiliate or website link in your signature. Join in the conversations naturally, and do not mention your products unless appropriate.

Work hard, and eventually you may reach that golden point where you don't have to scrounge for customers or sales. Then you can kick back at the beach too.

Save a chair for me.
